Job Description:

As a Splunk System Engineer you will perform daily system operations tasks to verify system integrity and availability. You will perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware/OS upgrades, and resource optimization. You will implement monitoring for applications and servers, and respond to alarms in a timely manner, preventing client impact and performance degradation. You will deploy physical and virtual servers, complete assigned incident management tasks, and deploy, setup, and maintain testing environments. You will also provide Tier III and other support per service request. You will perform the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Splunk software. Your job functions will include planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software; managing accounts, network rights; managing systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability; implementing security procedures and tools; developing and documenting systems administration standard operating procedures; resolving significant hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency; maintaining systems configuration; managing the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements; and ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for your position

  • Due to the client contract you will be assigned, this position requires you to be a U.S. citizen

  • Bachelor Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer information Systems, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience

  • Must possess and maintain 8570 IAT Level II Certification and CND Infrastructure Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of hands on experience as a Splunk Administrator performing the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Splunk.

  • At least one year of experience with DoD security practices

  • Splunk Certified Systems Administrator certification

  • At least one year of experience with installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Splunk systems

  • At least one year of experience with logical volume management

  • At least one year of experience with virtualization concepts as well as industry best practices to include virtualization technologies and management tools

  • At least one year of experience with shell scripting. Bash, Perl, Python, etc.

  • At least one year of experience with RedHat/CentOS

  • At least one year of experience with various storage technologies such as SAN, NFS, virtual SAN, iSCSI, or direct attached

  • At least one year of experience with syslog routing, queuing, and filtering

Expectations

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position

  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs., i.e. server, network equipment

  • Willing to travel up to 20% as needed

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations

  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
