Oracle Sr. Manager, Security Engineering in Charleston, South Carolina

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Security Engineering team provides OCI with the capabilities to ensure our systems and services meet the security objectives we communicate to customers as architectural features of our cloud environment. This work starts with building a strong foundation, looking at the level of the physical compute and networking infrastructure we use in OCI data centers. It begins with the supply chain, through to deployment, and finally to decommissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering and operational management of enterprise security tooling and infrastructure within OCI. This includes services such as Splunk, Elastic Stack, Demisto XSOAR, and others.

  • Manage special projects involving the software development and engineering of solutions tailored to OCI

  • Supports a culture of accountability, integrity and high expectations

  • Drive implementation and verification of hardware features that improve the security of our platforms

  • Collaborate to develop a long-term security roadmap for the hardware we put into our infrastructure and platforms.

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years as a security engineering manager

  • 6 years supporting security engineering, security operations, software engineering, or site reliability engineering

  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience

  • Understanding the importance of a balanced and encouraging team culture

  • Experience with engineering and managing distributed systems at scale, including various SIEM platforms, SOAR (XSOAR, Demisto, ServiceNow),elastic search, and other data analytics solutions

  • Experience managing a team of software engineers focused on providing specialized tooling capabilities to support security functions

  • Cryptography algorithms, standards, implementation and application

  • Programming and debugging fundamentals in languages/interfaces, such as C/C , GoLang, Python, etc

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years at a senior management level

  • 6 years of relevant security engineering experience in a large enterprise environment
