Humana IBM BPM Lead Application Architect (Remote) in Lancaster, South Carolina


The Lead Application Architect designs and develops IT applications architecture solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. The Lead Application Architect works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.


The Lead Application Architect performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications for IBM BPM/BAW Solutions. Develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent applications. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision. At times is required to complete hands on coding work. Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

As a Lead Application Architect, you will work as part of a team that designs and architects applications for many different domains throughout Humana. To be successful you will need a strong technical orientation, be a creative problem solver, be motivated to advance in the field and work well in a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

  • 8 or more experience as a senior developer in large IT projects

  • Must have experience with IBM BAW or BPM (or equivalent tool)

  • Must have workflow experience

  • Prior project architect and lead experience

  • Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle, Waterfall, and Agile Development Methodologies

  • Experience problem solving and consultation within complex environments

  • Facilitating cross-functional teams' efforts

  • 4+ years working experience with tools – Blueworks Live, IBM Business Process Designer, Integration Designer, MQ Explorer/RFH UTil , SOAP UI, Database Management tools

  • 4+ years of experience working experience with Server runtime (WebSphere/ tomcat), deploying applications and troubleshooting for failures as needed

  • Knowledge and expertise in IBM BPM use cases

  • Should be able to complete code reviews and guide the development team in development activities

  • Experience with onsite/offshore development model is required

  • Experience working with business teams in gathering requirements and translating them to detailed design. Responsible for overall delivery of the solutions

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • 6+ years working experience with tools – BlueWorksLive, Process Designer , Integration Designer , MQ Explorer/RFH UTil , SOAP UI , Database Management tools

  • 6+ years experience working experience with Server runtime (WebSphere/ tomcat), deploying applications and troubleshooting for failures as needed

  • Azure Cloud knowledge
