Job Purpose Develop and configure applications within the MyDORWAY and DORWAY systems. This integrated tax portal modernizes and secures processes for taxpayers and employees. Job Functions * Development * Program, test, debug, and configure new or modified systems from approved design documents. * The primary development environment will be the Microsoft .Net framework and VB programming language with SQL Server database, but other development languages and tools may be used as needed. * Problem Solving * Assist in resolving system, program, and user problems as needed in a production environment. * Identify source of problems, perform necessary modifications, and test to ensure that the problems are resolved according to established service level agreements. * Operational Knowledge * Demonstrate a working knowledge of business operational processes, associated supporting technology, and system interfaces. * Technical Support * Assist in providing consultation to customers related to information technology. * Interview customers to determine business requirements. Identify how technology may enable those requirements and participate in the development of feasibility studies. * Assist the user in training and in operation of the new or existing systems. * Process and Standards Management * Prepare appropriate documentation throughout the development life cycle, ensuring compliance with SCDOR policies, standards, and operations. * Assist in training new employees and serve as a technical consultant for them. * Keep project leaders and supervisor informed of work progress. Minimum and Additional Requirements Requires one of the following: 1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related area 2. Associate's degree in computer science or a related area and two years of work experience in computer system development, modification, and/or maintenance. 3. High school diploma and four years of experience in computer system development, modification, and/or maintenance. * Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning. Preferred Qualifications * Sound knowledge of and experience in operating systems, programming languages, component design, and personal computers. * Working knowledge of Microsoft development environment, including Visual Basic and/or C#, and the .Net environment. * Basic understanding of source control. * Working knowledge of relational database systems and SQL. * Sound ability to analyze and devise solutions to issues as they arise.
