SC Department of Public Safety Network and Systems Administrator II - Division of Operations, Technology, and Security in Lexington County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities Manages Agency network infrastructure. Ensures that network components are configured appropriately and securely to meet agency needs. Reviews hardware/software to keep components operational, secure and under maintenance. Components include routers, switches, wireless AP’s, firewalls, VPN’s and dedicated circuits. Works with the Department of Administration and other vendors as needed to maintain access to network resources. Manages Agency email environment. Administers on premises and cloud-based email services. Ensures email service is operational and configured securely for users and applications. Protects and secures email by configuring MFA, encryption mechanisms, conditional access rules and SPF/DKIM/DMARC policies. Manages Barracuda Email Security Gateway and Archiver appliances and cloud services to protect, monitor and preserve mail flows. Manages Windows domain and network services (active directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Group Policy and certificate authorities). Oversees the administration of endpoint device protection and Agency virtual computing and storage environment. Supervises assigned DOTS staff. Ensures that the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) is used as a continuous communication tool. EPMS planning stages and evaluations are completed according to our Agency EPMS policy. Uses progressive discipline policy effectively when needed. Develops skills of subordinate personnel. Maintains good relationships with Agency management, officials, vendors and users. Other duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. This position may be required to bend, stoop, kneel and lift objects up to 75lbs. and be able to use common hand tools. Will be required to work outside of normal 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM schedule as needed to meet customer service demands. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree and six years related experience in automated information or computer system design, installation, operation and repair. A combination of education, relevant training and experience may be considered in substitution for the bachelor's degree upon approval by the State Human Resources Division.
