ISHPI Information Technologies Software Release Manager in North Charleston, South Carolina
NIWC LANT S2IPT supports DoD and Navy information technology to design, develop, engineer, and maintain systems that will improve customer organizational efficiency. Support areas include: Software Development, Administrative Services, Applications Integration Management, Corporate Strategy Planning and Execution, Information Assurance, Information Resource Management, Information Technology (IT) Operations. This tasking includes: new standards engineering, prototype installation, application development, data interoperability, system design, system management and maintenance, data collection, analysis, and other management and implementation efforts to support of data translation, data mediation, and data mapping.
Provide expert management and coordination of all technology-related release activities for related projects
Lead the Release Management function by instituting and demonstrating industry best practices for release, configuration and implementation management
Ensure the integrity of releases and of pre-release configuration items
Execute, control and manage a schedule of planned releases to pre-production and production environments
Work with QA, Development and Operations to ensure that development projects adhere to the release process and change procedure guidelines
Lead and coordinate “go-live” activities including the execution of deployment plans and checklists
Develop scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyze their application to current configuration management needs
Continuously improve configuration management and release practices and processes
Required skills and knowledge include, but are not limited to, the following:
Requires U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a Government background investigation for Public Trust
5+ years of overall software development/release/configuration management experience
Two (2) or more years as Configuration and/or Release Engineer
Ability to obtain Security+ certification within six months after hire to satisfy DoD 8570 Cybersecurity Workforce IAT Level II requirements
The most successful Software Services IPT Release Engineer attributes include, but are not limited to, the following:
Experience collaborating with software development and maintenance teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
Experience managing releases with hands on experience using open source/DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organization and coordination skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
