AnMed Health Peer Support Specialist in Pickens, South Carolina
The Peer Support Specialist will provide and advocate for effective recovery-based services for persons served, and offer additional options to help clients in their efforts to recover by providing a wide range of skill building services. The Peer Support Specialist will coordinate the client's referral to treatment from emergency department to treatment agency, assist clients in becoming empowered through self-advocacy skills, provide crisis support, perform mentoring, problem solving and offer encouragement and will maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, former recipient of substance abuse treatment with at least 5 years of recovery required, with the ability to demonstrate recovery expertise-including knowledge of approaches to support others in recovery. The Peer Support Specialist should be flexible, able to demonstrate strong organizational skills, self motivated with the ability to work well independently. Must have strong communication skills and the ability to exercise good judgment.
