SC Department of Public Safety GIS Analyst - Office of Information Technology in Richland County, South Carolina
Identifies GIS requirements for OIT customers. Documents requirements and makes recommendations for implementing required solution.
Assists users with resolving software issues pertaining to supported GIS software and troubleshoot basic to moderately complex Esri software issues.
Produce accurate maps and other representations of data for internal/external use. Record and document details of map updates, additions or deletions.
Analyze spatial data through the use of Esri products and software which is used to support SCDPS' Data Driven Policing Program.
Participate in the development of all GIS projects for both internal and external customers as well as attend GIS members meetings and trainings.
Serves as GIS resource for other members of the IT staff. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
*Agency Minimum Requirements * A bachelor's degree in geography or a related field; or an associate's degree in geography; or a related field and experience in the use of GIS software. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Must be experienced with SQL and other computer programming languages. Must be experienced with Esri software and have working knowledge of Esri products.
Additional Requirements Knowledge of spatial analysis techniques and cartography. Knowledge of Esri, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, working with and editing SDE geodatabases. Ability to operate GIS equipment, develop/maintain mapping applications and tools. Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL and Python. Ability to communicate effectively.
Under direct supervision of the GIS Manager, the employee will be called upon to exercise sound judgement in work scenarios, comply with policies and guidelines, and perform assigned duties. The employee must be able to work independently and with OIT teams when called upon.
The work week is regular hours up to 37.5 hours per week, with flex-time scheduling, as required.
