SC Department of Public Safety Info Systems/Business Analyst II in Richland County, South Carolina
Under general supervision, gather requirements from users for software development and enhancement. Document, design, code, troubleshoot, and maintain applications adhering to the industry best practices. All assignments must follow organizational policy, procedures, and standards This position will perform analysis of users’ requests, create supporting documentation, and provide status reports to team manager and project manager.
Meet with users and stakeholders to gather information on business needs. Produce analysis and design solutions for those needs based on industry and departmental best practices, SLED PMO policies, and CJIS Security requirements. Create solutions to satisfy the stated requirements, troubleshoot and maintain applications.
Create and maintain end user and IT documentation on procedures and protocol for assigned requests. Keep department documentation up to date on assignments.
Peer review applications for team members and coordinate training and turnover to customer. Assist other IT members as needed on projects and assigned tasks.
Produce required reports and statuses to management and project management office as required. Maintain help desk tickets with updates and solutions in a timely manner. Keep management informed of progress or issues with assigned tickets.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor degree in computer science or related field and 5 years of experience in developing and supporting applications and major systems in .NET (VB, ASP, or C#); OR an associate degree in computer science or related field and 7 years of experience as described above.
Must have experience in coding complex and secure solutions, gathering requirements, creating design documents, troubleshooting code, strong user support and interpersonal skills.
The ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with non-technical end users, management, and technical peers. Excellent interpersonal skills needed; must have strong analytical skills and the ability to think logically; must be a self-starter able to research and find solutions independently.
Must have strong code development skills, experience creating requirements, design, and test documents. Must know and have experience with the SDLC process. Must have Multilanguage coding experience; experience with XML, SQL Server Reporting Services, and web site design.
Position requires state wide travel and out of state travel on a limited basis.
Employee may be required to work nights and weekends as necessary.
Experience with COBOL and job scripting languages a plus.
