Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Trainer-EPIC Principle II in Spartanburg, South Carolina
Epic Principal Trainers will be responsible for the optimization of end-user utilization as well as end-user training within EHR systems and any peripheral devices or software (Epic, Aria, Dragon, etc.), and technical maintenance of training environments related to Epic supported modules. This will be achieved through a combination of efforts and outreach initiatives including, but not limited to:
routine at-the-elbow support and rounding
Super User programs
standard end-user training.
Epic Principal Trainers will obtain Certification within relevant Epic applications in order to maintain application-specific training environments deliver end-user training.
Epic Principal Trainers will work closely with the Clinical Informatics team (Principal trainer I, Optimization Specialist, and physician leadership) to identify appropriate resources and methodologies to provide recommendations for system and workflow optimization. The Principal Trainer II will serve as content and workflow experts, working closely with SRHS departments to provide support for existing initiatives that align with EHR documentation and functionality to standardize documentation practices to provide accurate and measurable reporting metrics.
They will also work with these departments to create workflows to support new regulatory standards or system initiatives as decided by leadership to elevate standards of quality and patient care.
They will serve all areas of our healthcare system – inpatient and ambulatory – including, but no limited to; physicians, nursing, clinical ancillary service lines, access, and finance.
They will serve as liaisons between leadership, end-users, and other Clinical Informatics team members to ensure that identified system initiatives are properly coupled with accurate and timely training documentation through the development of tip sheets, curriculum modifications, and training environment modifications as needed.
They will participate in Super User and Physician Champion education programs as necessary. Participate in education efforts during EHR implementation process.
Or, healthcare specific certification/licensure with 5 years of IT/training experience
Or, 10 years equivalent healthcare specific systems analyst/training experience
Preferred: Master’s degree
- Minimum of 5 years of IT/Training experience required
- Epic Certification in one or more Epic applications. Training Manager will validate Certification status through Epic. All certifications are required within 90 days of start date.
Core Job Responsibilities
Development and ongoing technical maintenance of Epic training environment to ensure end-user experience is aligned with production functionality
Workflow reviews, at-the-elbow support, and routine rounding for Epic end-users throughout SRHS to optimize efficiencies
Deliver routine end-users training 50% of time
Identifies and communicates ‘Best Practice’ workflows to end users
Curriculum modification and tip-sheet development as needed
Performs ongoing evaluations of educational programs, developing and/or auditing methods to measure quality and skills testing that will allow for structured feedback to end users
Content expert representative on clinical and/or non-clinical committees as needed
Liaison between technical (IT department) and non-technical customers (end-users)
Tier Three application support
Effectively facilitates meetings with senior customer management.
Demonstrates knowledge of visual diagrams of workflow design and processes
Provides education across Training and Informatics teams through proactive knowledge sharing, mentoring and coaching peers and inviting staff to shadow work on a regular basis
Works within departmental priorities to complete special projects within requested parameters. Manages his / her regular work assignments along with special projects
Provides assistance with the operational and capital budget, working to forecast needs for departments and the hospital
Demonstrates ability to solve complex business problems
Provides all levels of support for Informatics
Defines quality standards and advises employees on quality improvements
Works with Medical Informatics management to prioritize project requests
Demonstrates ability to identify workarounds and / or leverage existing technology to meet business needs
Demonstrates understanding of all Informatics and IS core applications and operations (servers, networks, helpdesk, etc)
Demonstrates some level of healthcare industry group participation
